The verdict in the ongoing gangster case against Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari may come today. Arguments are going on from both the sides in Allahabad High Court. The results of the Lok Sabha elections will come on June 4, but the political future of Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari will be decided by the Allahabad High Court on Monday. An important hearing will be held in the High Court today on the sentence of four years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh in a gangster case. If the decision is in favor, Afzal will be able to file nomination from Ghazipur on the last day.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh is hearing the appeal filed by the government and Krishnanand Rai’s family to increase the sentence awarded in the gangster case along with the appeal to stay the sentence. The last date for filing nomination for Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat is May 14. The 24 hours from 13 to 14 May are very important for Afzal Ansari’s political future.
On Monday, if the court gives its verdict in favor then on 14th Afzal Ansari will be able to file nomination from Ghazipur. In case the decision is against you, the nomination may get stuck. Because under the Representation of the People Act, a person sentenced for more than two years cannot contest elections. It is noteworthy that as per the order of the Supreme Court, the High Court has to dispose of this case by June 30. The High Court’s decision may come today. Everyone’s eyes are on this.
